Scholars attend a series of week-long residential workshops during their time in the programme.
What are the benefits of the scholarship?
As a recipient, you will get:
- Tuition and Registration Fees: Fully covered as per your university’s rates.
- Study Materials Allowance: Provided by the Mandela Rhodes Foundation (MRF).
- Accommodation and Meals: Covered according to MRF guidelines.
- Medical Aid Allowance: Included as set by the MRF.
- Personal Allowance: Provided to cover daily expenses.
- Research and Conference Grants: Available upon request.
- Flights for International Scholars: Economy-class flights from your home country to your university at the start and end of your studies.
Who can apply?
You are eligible if you meet these requirements:
- You are a citizen of any African country.
- You are between 19 and 29 years old.
- You can study in English at a postgraduate level.
- You have completed your undergraduate degree with excellent results (above 70% or upper-second class Honours) by January 1, 2026.
- You are passionate about leadership and want to use your skills to promote equality, freedom, and human dignity in Africa.
- You admire Nelson Mandela’s ability to bring people together and value our shared humanity.
- You are open to self-reflection and ready to grow personally and professionally.
